I started working on a survival game a while back but like much of my endeavours, never got around to finishing it.

Please feel free to use any of the art/code in anyway you like, you can even continue this project as your own if you want. If you do end up making something with this, let me know as I'd love to check it out.

What is it all about:

Template for the start of a 2D platform based survival game. The idea is that you survive by harvesting wood, stone etc to build primitive structures like a water still, campfire and shelter, while crafting tools that will help you repair a broken bridge to the right of the layout. At night, zombies spawn in and make their way to your camp and try to destroy your base. If you've ever played, Minecraft, 7 Days to Die and Stranded Deep, I wanted to mash elements of these 3 games together.

What's included:

  • Source file (Fully commented with completed systems for day and night cycles, weather and zombie spawning), and some background artwork.
  • Logic for:
    • Day and night cycle (complete)
    • 24 hour clock (complete)
    • Hunger, thirst and health bars that degrade over time (complete)
    • Temperature control that tracks how hot or cold you are (complete)
    • A weather system that makes it rain or shine (complete but you could also add snow and storms to this).
    • Zombie spawning (complete)
    • The start of a very basic menu/build/crafting window (not complete).
    • Camera tracking (complete)
  • This is not a full game but a project that you can continue. You can copy the logic for the weather and day/night cycles for your own projects.
